inTouch Partners with HMD and Nokia: Tackling Loneliness - One Button at a Time

At Mobile World Congress Barcelona, HMD Global—the maker of Nokia phones—announced an inspiring new partnership with inTouch.family to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time: the global loneliness crisis among seniors.

Together, we're introducing direct access to inTouch’s AI companion “Mary” through a dedicated hardware button on two iconic HMD devices—making meaningful digital connection simpler than ever.

A Growing Global Challenge

We’re standing at the edge of a demographic wave. The population of people over 80 years old will triple to 450 million over the next 20 years. This “Baby Boomer Wave” presents enormous emotional, social, and logistical pressures on families—the so-called sandwich generation—who are balancing care for parents, children, and their own lives all at once.

The consequences of isolation are well-documented. Studies in 2025 revealed that engaged seniors stay in their homes an average of nine months longer than those who are lonely or disconnected.

Human Connection, Reinvented

As shared during the launch:

“One button. An average 15-minute conversation. An AI that remembers your story. We’ve turned the simple phone into a daily companion for seniors.”

This partnership aims to keep parents and grandparents connected, cognitively active, and emotionally supported—right where they feel most comfortable: at home.

Simple by Design

The beauty of the inTouch and HMD collaboration lies in its simplicity:

  • Zero Learning Curve: No apps, no touchscreens, no complexity—just one familiar button on a phone designed for ease.
  • Persistent Memory: Mary remembers names, stories, and family history, allowing seniors to build meaningful continuity with their AI companion.

A European Pilot with Global Impact

Our European pilot marks a crucial first step in a worldwide rollout—building pathways for companionship and wellbeing that cross boundaries and generations.

This isn't just technology; it’s tech for good, redefining how we stay in touch with the people who raised us.
